Spring has officially started, not that we can complain the winter, it was very mild….. we even had guests swimming in the outdoor pool (and they weren’t from Antarctica..!!)
As usual we have been extremely busy at Mariner Shores, the wonderful ladies at reception are kept busy making sure that everyone in-house is having a great time and organising members & guests holiday bookings.
The Maintenance Team are constantly on the run dealing with day to day maintenance issues and also some special projects.
The Bocce Court is now finished and open to members and guests – some of our lovely guests have donated Bocce Bowls (which are available at reception, need to make a booking the same as Tennis Court and Lawn Bowls).
Our talented maintenance team has built a deck beside the bocce court so that players can sit and relax in between games.
The maintenance team and I had a working bee last week (Susie even donned the maintenance “King Gee” uniform to help sand back all the tables and chairs at the Gazebo BBQ and re-stain them (they look amazing – even if I do say so myself….!!)
The games Room has a new Table Tennis table and bats in the games room.
The outdoor swimming pool surround was resurfaced and the hole in the pebble-crete in the base of the pool has been repaired.
All Clear Abseiling has put in security cage ladders on 9th floor to rooftop, safety ladder on Norfolk Building and safety anchor points on rooftops.
Dan, our resident garden, has replaced the gardens beds outside Units 8 & 9 – he has also replanted the garden to reflect the gardens beds outside Units 16 & 17.
He shall be starting on the garden bed outside Unit 3 & 4 this week.
What a splendid winter we have enjoyed, with fine, clear, mild days for all the visitors to enjoy.
Behind the scenes the team have been busy with lots of projects to keep the resort in tip-top shape. I have had many members and guests tell me that they have never seen the resort looking better! It is so pleasing to hear, and every positive comment is passed onto our wonderful team.
Planning for the bathroom refurbishments is well advanced and we intend to have a bathroom completed prior to the AGM in November, for members to view. A big vote of thanks to one of our directors, Gordon North, who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to assist with this project. Thanks Gordon!

And finally, please keep your fingers crossed as we are finalists in four categories of the annual ATHOC Awards: Maureen from the Reception team for Excellence in Service, Lee from night cleaner/security for Resort Performer of the Year, the resort itself for Resort of the Year, and myself and Susie for Management Team of the Year. The winners will be announced on Monday 5 September at the ATHOC Conference Annual Dinner. Wish us luck!

ARC Mercantile (Debt Collection Agency) has collected $156,000.00 in delinquent Maintenance Levies, to date.
The 2016 levy is:
- One Bedroom Apartment – $749.65
- Two Bedroom Apartment – $880.22
- Three Bedroom Apartment – $1,014.24

Mariner Shores Resort – 2016 AGM
Sunday 20th November 2016
Mariner Shores Resort AGM will be held at Burleigh Heads Surf Club on Sunday 20th November 2016 at 11am.
Mariner Shores Resort will be providing a bus service for those people who cannot make their own way down to the Burleigh Heads Surf Club – seats on bus will be limited (will need to book at reception).
We have 2 Directors that will be up for re-election, they are Michael Talbot and Gordon North. All paperwork for voting will be posted to Members 21 days prior to AGM.
If any Member is interested in becoming a Director at Mariner Shores Resort – the information is available on the documents page of the members section of the website.
After the AGM, lunch will be provided to Members back at the Resort by Golden Roast Company.

This resignation takes effect immediately, and follows our unwillingness to accept an increase in their audit fees of almost 73%, ASIC have been advised of their resignation and have consented to it. This has been confirmed in writing by ASIC.

WE are very proud of the Maintenance Team at Mariner Shores, they have been extremely busy this month (and every month…), they have built a Bocce Court, resealed & replanted garden beds, built new shelves in the storage rooms on each level, replaced all shelving in the Housekeeping linen room and so much more…..

Those members who own Fixed Week 52 & Fixed Week 1 together will automatically receive Week 53 in line with the Clubs Articles of Association.
Those members who own Fixed Week 1 may apply to the Club to use the Fixed Week 1 entitlement in Week 53. Written applications must be received, and may only be submitted from 31st July, 2016 onwards.
All other members which include holiday, floating and Fixed Week 2 may apply to use their entitlement in Week 53 by submitting written applications to the Resort from 31st August, 2016 onwards.
Please be aware that all applications must be in writing (fax, email or post) and any applications received prior to the above submission dates will be rejected with no correspondence entered into with the member. Applications received will be date stamped on arrival and allocations done in order of receipted date.
