The school holidays are over, July is almost over and yes we are still busy…
Our games room is having a little make over – added a few more candy machines (just what parents want to hear…) we have purchased a new air hockey and a new table tennis table.
A new hand rail has been installed in the Reception area, to assist guests in navigating the change in floor heights.
The outdoor swimming pool will be closed for one week from Friday 22nd July 2016 to repair cracks in the coating on concrete. The pool was emptied last weekend and a hole in pebble-crete was repaired. Thank you to the guys at Bedggoods Pool for completing work so fast.
Our Maintenance team have been working hard on completing the Bocce Court and deck… it is really starting to come together… Watch this space….!! New cupboards will be built next to the outdoor chess set to house the pieces (so the knights don’t do walk about again…)
Total Grind & Polish are at resort this week resurfacing the cracks in the coating on concrete around outdoor pool. Thank you to Glenn, Simon and Scott for doing a great job.
The fire sprinkler on ramp in carpark has been replaced to stop it being hit by tall vehicles – it has been re-installed to sit flush with ceiling.
The replacement sewerage pit cover is being installed and a second Sump Pump in lower basement will start shortly.
What a busy month we have had here at your beautiful resort. There has been lots of activity, with everything from school holidays, the levy notices going out, State of Origin sausage sizzles, and maintenance works around the resort. The member’s morning teas have been great with lots of information and an opportunity to chat and catch up on news.
The maintenance team have been working away on the bocce court, and also adding a few additional ‘back of house’ facilities for the housekeeping team.
We had planned for months to have the outdoor pool emptied for a week in July, and would you believe that week coincided with daily temperatures over 25C! The July weather has been fantastic with warm days and cool nights. The best laid plans…
We have also started planning for a ballot for those members wanting to visit the resort during the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Ticket sales are planned to commence in 2017, but we want to have the ballot organized in advance so that members will know whether they have accommodation during the two weeks commencing 11 April 2018. Watch out for more news on this in the next couple of months.

ARC Mercantile (Debt Collection Agency) has collected $155,000.00 in delinquent Maintenance Levies, to date.
The 2016/17 Budget has been approved by your Board, at their Board meeting on Saturday 28 May 2016.
The new levies are:
- One Bedroom Apartment – $749.65
- Two Bedroom Apartment – $880.22
- Three Bedroom Apartment – $1,014.24
Levy payments are due by 31st July 2016

Mariner Shores Resort – 2016 AGM

Mariner Shores Resort AGM will be held at Burleigh Heads Surf Club on Sunday 20th November 2016 at 11am.
We have 2 Directors that will be up for re-election, they are Michael Talbot and Gordon North. All paperwork for voting will be posted to Members 21 days prior to AGM.
If any Member is interested in becoming a Director at Mariner Shores Resort – the information is available on the documents page of the members section of the website.
After the AGM, lunch will be provided to Members back at the Resort by Golden Roast Company.
2016/17 Rental Pool
Rental Pool Reminder
A reminder that members have until 31 August to notify the front office team if they wish to place their entitlement into the rental pool.
It is important also to be aware that the letting of delinquent member weeks takes precedence over member’s weeks. Once an amount of rental equivalent to the delinquent levies for the current year are received, then the member’s rental pool will start to receive rental disbursements.

Staff Member of the Month
July 2016 – Leonie Reick
Leonie Reick has been one of our valued housekeepers at Mariner Shores Resort since early December 2010. Leonie looks after our laundry at the resort.
The runner up for Employee of the Month award is Jose Luis Vergel-Irlet. Jose is a newcomer to Mariner Shores and he is also in our housekeeping department.
Thank you both for keeping our resort clean and tidy. Congratulations to both..!
State of Origin Party Wenesday 6th July 2016
Mariner Shores Resort held a State of Origin Meet & Greet party on Wednesday 6th July 2016. We had a great turn up for our sausage sizzle and drinks before the game. Tony (Resort Manager) was our chef and Susie was waitress/ bar person. We were also joined by Shelley from DAE and Tanya from RCI.
A great night was had by all (it’s a shame QLD didn’t win..!!!)
And the winner is… We are delighted to announce that the winner of our June photo competition is Cheryl Hartnett, with this picture of the family at Mariner Shores. Cheryl’s comment when she sent the photo in was ‘Family getting bigger at Mariner Shores’, and we felt that this really summed up the resort, and that it is somewhere where so many families have grown up. Congratulations to Cheryl!
“Tag Line” / “Slogan” Competition…
Mariner Shores Resort needs a “Tag Line”, “a slogan” that says Mariner Shores…!!!
We are asking our Members to come up with a Tag Line / Slogan for Mariner Shores, something that sums up what the Mariner Shores experience is all about. “A slogan / tag line conjures up positive imagery about our resort”.
The competition requires Members (only) to come up with a “Tag Line” / “Slogan” – All members can vote for their favourite entry and the top 3 would go into a final selection with the winner being chosen by our Resort Management Team.
The winner will receive a week at Mariner Shores Resort, in a two bedroom apartment (sleep 6), outside QLD school holidays, subject to availability and valid for one year.
The competition closes at end of business on 31st August 2016 (7.00pm)

Those members who own Fixed Week 52 & Fixed Week 1 together will automatically receive Week 53 in line with the Clubs Articles of Association.
Those members who own Fixed Week 1 may apply to the Club to use the Fixed Week 1 entitlement in Week 53. Written applications must be received, and may only be submitted from 31st July, 2016 onwards.
All other members which include holiday, floating and Fixed Week 2 may apply to use their entitlement in Week 53 by submitting written applications to the Resort from 31st August, 2016 onwards.
Please be aware that all applications must be in writing (fax, email or post) and any applications received prior to the above submission dates will be rejected with no correspondence entered into with the member. Applications received will be date stamped on arrival and allocations done in order of receipted date.
